Akira Kiteshi aka AK are an Edinburgh based duo who cover all aspects of electronic music.  Drawing on Hip Hop, Dubstep, Techno and Funky Glitch (to name a few) there is nothing Akira Kiteshi won't try out.

Despite the sometimes bizarre way that AK conduct their beats into an almost unlistenable mashup of spaghetti allsorts, it always becomes clear on where they are going with their music and exactly which direction they want to throw you into.  Tracks like Noglitch, taken from their Black Acre debut 'Pinball' are exactly the kind of "Madness" that this scene has been looking for in recent years.  Hip Hop, Techno, Gabba, Dubstep all thrown into one bowl of beautifully made soup, soup that tastes so good you want to smack your Mama!  But somehow it just makes sense?

Having only been making music under the guise Akira Kiteshi (AK) for just over a year, the AK Kids have already sold out of of their debut 12" Pinball (in 3 days), sold out of another re-press and are in the middle of getting another press done as you read this.  The Jeremy Kyle/Lorraine Kelly 7" is out very soon closely followed by the Boom N Pow 12" which is sure to blow the dance apart.  All these to come on Black Acre Records.  Then comes the Donk EP, a 6 track masterpiece covering just about every musical genre you can think of, amalgamated into one lovely slab of Dealmaker Records Vinyl.

Aside from working on their own releases, AK have also been heavily involved in various remix workings, mainly the legend that is Unique 3, on his stunning 'Shades of Grey' track.  The AK Kids have given it their signature sound that is sure to keep the people happy, as well as doing the original justice.

It hasn't always been all about Akira Kiteshi....before the lads started work on this project they had several other projects that they dabbled in, covering everthing from Hip Hop, Electro, Disco, Experimental Jazz, Techno and Pop. You can find any of these projects on Myspace under the names Matchstick Men, 10dB, Ambiant De Zaaj and Betamaxx.

So where do they go from here?

Expect 12"s, limited edition 7"s, EP's, LP's, mixTAPES, Podcasts and gigs (lots of them!).

2009 - a good year for The AK Kids?
We reckon so!!.
